Our winery recommends the most perfect steak sandwich you’ve ever eaten, enjoy with a glass of Shiraz/Merlot 2015 from “Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades”.


Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 800gr beef steaks, boneless
  • 150gr cheddar cheese
  • 3-4 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 2 brioche buns
  • salt & freshly ground pepper
  • 2-3 pickled cucumber
  • rocket /arugula

Preparation:

  1. Place a non-stick pan of medium size over medium heat and add the olive oil. Cut the onions and add them to the pan and sauté for 3-4 minutes, until they soften and caramelize nicely.
  2. Add the whole garlic cloves and thyme springs and sauté for 1 minute.
  3. Place a pan over high heat and let it get very hot. Add the steak to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Add salt and ground pepper.
  4. Slice brioche in half.
  5. Remove the garlic and thyme, cut the steak into 1-2 cm slices and add it to the buns along with the cheddar cheese and onions.
  6. Garnish with arugula leaves and pickled cucumber in thin slices.
  7. Serve the steak sandwich immediately along with a glass of Shiraz/Merlot 2015 from “Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades”.
