Who said that slow cooked traditional lamb or goat can only be baked in a traditional oven? You can bake as tasty “kleftiko” from the comfort of your home, and following a recipe that will pleasantly surprise you with its ease. Accompany this traditional dish with red wine Playia Cuvée Spéciale from Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades and live carefree Sunday days in the village, from your home.

Ingredients for 4:

  • 2kg of lamb or goat with bone (shoulder blade) cut into pieces or 4 legs
  • 4 peeled potatoes cut in half
  • 4 onions cut into quarters
  • 4-6 cloves of garlic cut in half
  • 4 bay leaves
  • olive oil
  • ½ cup Playia White Dry
  • 2 tablespoons fresh oregano or 1 tablespoon dry
  • salt and pepper

Preparation:

  1. Put the pieces of meat, potatoes and onions in a clay pot (if you don’t have a pot, in a ovenproof dish with a lid).
  2. Place the garlic and bay leaves scattered between the ingredients.
  3. Drizzle with enough olive oil (at least the bottom of our pyrex needs to be completely covered) and the wine.
  4. Add the oregano and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bake for at least 3 hours at 180 degrees C.
  6. Serve aside a bottle of Playia Cuvée Spéciale from the Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades and enjoy!
