Rosé wines are perfect for spring and summer. Balancing harmoniously between sweet tannins and crisp acidity, they are a refreshing accompaniment to warm weather occasions. Rosés need to be served chilled, at a temperature of 10ºC, and young, within two years of being produced.
The ideal companion for rosé wines
Rosés have a rich aromatic expression, characterised by red forests fruit aromas, such as strawberry, berries and cherries, and delicate floral notes such as, rose and citrus blossoms. The primary flavours of a quality rosé wine are red fruit, flowers, citrus, or even melon, with a finishing of pleasant crunchy green flavour. Of course, the flavour varies, depending on the variety of grapes used.
As rosés tend to have both a lighter body and a more delicate flavour on the palate, they blend harmoniously with some really tasteful foods. They accompany extremely well a variety of oily fish, poultry in white sauce, light snacks, summer fruit and many types of cheese.
A fine rosé wine matches with fresh, soft cheeses like brie or Camembert. Round light curing, fresh cheeses, regato, cheddar or parmigiano are some excellent choices, as well. To perfect your platter, don’t forget to combine your cheeses with mild-tasting sausages. It is preferable to choose sausages that do not have much fat or are not smoked with intense aromas and spices.
Before you enjoy this dreamy blend of wine and cheese, decorate your platter with red forest fruit, giving not only spring colours for the eyes to feast, but also a refreshing spring note for your palate.
