Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades’ wines have been distinguished in the AWC Vienna competition, the largest officially recognised wine competition in the world. The competition itself is one of the biggest international challenges for all wineries, as the unswayable blind tasting system and the strict tasting rules render AWC Vienna the most challenging of the world’s renowned competitions. Setting the highest standards in wine quality for 17 years, the competition honours the continuously raising quality requirements in the world of wine.
In the 2021 competition, the judges of AWC Vienna awarded two (2) gold and four (4) silver medals to our wines, recognising the potential of Cypriot vineyards and the quality of Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades yet again.
Oenou Yi Commandaria was awarded a gold medal, reaching a total of nine (9) gold medals in wine competitions. Playiá Cuvée Spéciale was also awarded a gold medal, now holding a total of eight (8) medals, four (4) of which gold!
Silver medals were awarded to Playiá White Dry, White Melody, Pente Lithária and Rodámbelo, highlighting the indigenous varieties of Xinisteri, Maratheftiko and Mavro, which are used to produce these wines, as well as the international varieties that thrive within the Cypriot terroir.
